Health Minister Edwina Hart will praise a motherto-mother breastfeeding help and support training scheme as part of a step to
improve mother and baby health tomorrow. Mrs Hart will present certificates to women who have been trained to help support fellow mothers who want to breastfeed their babies in Swansea. The Morriston, Mayhill and Murton Areas Breastfeeding Support, or MAMS, initiative is one of 22 groups across Wales supported by the Welsh Assembly Government. Six mothers will receive certificates after completing a six-week training course run by health professionals at Swansea NHS Trust. Mrs Hart will present the certificates at
the Mayhill Family Centre, which is one of the first sites in Swansea to join the Assembly Government’s Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme that encourages businesses and organisations to provide a safe and welcoming environment to mothers wishing to breastfeed their babies.
