Role of the Regulator
Regulation on any profession attempts to produce outcomes which might not otherwise occur, produce or prevent outcomes in different places to what might otherwise occur, or produce or prevent outcomes in different timescales than would otherwise occur.
In this way, regulation can be seen as the mutually agreed implementation of policy statements in order to:
- Safeguard the public
- Ensure baseline standards of practice
- Ensure baseline standards of education and training
