Welcome to FEDANT

If you are reading this you are probably expecting a baby or know someone who is.  Parents have the right to Informed Choice and access to good quality antenatal education.  It is best practice for health care professionals to be externally regulated.

FEDANT provides a National Register of Antenatal Educators, Breastfeeding Counsellors, Doulas and CAM Practitioners who are all qualified and insured. The National Register lists a variety of professionals who may be qualified by different routes and with differing specialities; this provides the facility for you to choose who best meets your personal criteria.

Every Antenatal Educator, Breastfeeding Counsellor, Doula or CAM Practitioner on the National Register has met National Safety Criteria and provided evidence of their qualification/s and insurance. They have also agreed to abide by the FEDANT Code of Ethics which includes a commitment to maintain their skills with continuing professional development.

There are a wide range of professional memberships, organisations and charitable bodies which represent the interests of their membership.  Whilst the requirements for membership may be high an educator removed from one body may simply join the next.  An educator may hold a range of professional memberships but in the interest of public safety is only permitted one National Register entry.

There are two ways of using the FEDANT site:

  1. Enter a postcode area.  The Registrants in that area will be listed for you.
  2. Check the validity of a claimed registration by entering a National Register Entry Number.

Any Antenatal Educator, Breastfeeding Counsellor or Doula will be happy to provide you with their FEDANT National Registration Number. Registrants are being added to the National Register all the time. The returned register entry will also contain details of the Registrant’s additional skills or specialist areas.

If you are experiencing any difficulties on using this site, please email at or telephone 0870 312 0428.
