A Clearer Route Into Professional Practice
Verified Course Status
Students can check the exact course title and FEDANT Education Provider/Course Number before enrolling or making payment.
Appropriate Course Content
Accreditation provides assurance that the submitted course has been assessed against the applicable educational, safety and professional requirements.
Student Insurance
Eligible students on an applicable accredited course may be able to access the reduced rate FEDANT Block Scheme Insurance for students, subject to the insurer’s current eligibility, policy terms and confirmation of cover.
National Register Entry Route
Graduates from a current FEDANT accredited entry course are considered to meet the educational and safety requirements for the corresponding FEDANT National Register category, subject to satisfying all other admission requirements.
Personal Registration
After qualifying, graduates may apply for admission to the FEDANT National Register. Registration is personal and is granted only for the category or categories supported by accepted qualifications and evidence.
Practitioner Insurance
Where eligible, graduates who attain FEDANT National Registration may apply for reduced rate FEDANT Block Scheme Insurance.
Accreditation Applies to the Exact Course
Accreditation does not automatically apply to every course offered by an education provider. The FEDANT education provider logo, accreditation wording and Education Provider/Course Number must be used only in connection with the exact course holding current accreditation.
An education provider should be able to give prospective students its current FEDANT Education Provider/Course Number. Students can use this number to confirm that the exact provider and exact course appear on FEDANT’s current accredited provider list.
FEDANT Accreditation Routes
National Course Accreditation and Verification
For applicable entry courses designed to prepare learners for a corresponding category of the FEDANT National Register.
National Relative Sector Award
For relevant courses and awards connected with professional practice in the wider antenatal and postnatal sector.
Continuing Professional Development
For learning activities intended to support ongoing knowledge and competence. CPD does not itself extend a registrant’s approved National Register category.
Course Accreditation and Personal Registration Are Different
Completing an accredited course does not itself make a graduate FEDANT registered. The individual must apply separately for admission to the FEDANT National Register and meet the registration, evidence, insurance and safety requirements in force at the time of application.
Course accreditation relates to the education provider and exact course. National Registration relates to the individual practitioner and the exact category or categories for which FEDANT has granted admission.
Maintaining Accreditation
Accreditation is not a one time approval. Accredited courses are subject to ongoing quality review to confirm that the approved course continues to operate within the applicable requirements and agreed parameters.
Keep Information Current
Providers should notify FEDANT of relevant changes to course ownership, staffing, structure, content, assessment or delivery.
Describe Approval Accurately
Advertising must identify the exact accredited course and must not imply that unaccredited courses, services or individuals hold FEDANT approval.
Support Learner Confidence
Providers should give prospective students clear information about course content, assessment, fees, study commitments and the professional route the award supports.
