From Graduation to Professional Registration

Congratulations on completing your qualification or award. This page explains how to apply for admission to the FEDANT National Register and the information you should provide with your application.

Qualification and Registration

Your qualification or award is an important part of your application. Provide its full title, the education provider and the supporting evidence requested on the application form.

FEDANT and Professional Regulation

FEDANT maintains professional standards for those working across the antenatal and postnatal sector outside statutory provision. Registrants agree to follow the FEDANT Code of Ethics and Practice and meet ongoing professional responsibilities.

The FEDANT National Register includes Antenatal Educators, Breastfeeding Counsellors, Infant Feeding Practitioners, Doulas, Postnatal Practitioners, CAM Practitioners and practitioners holding eligible Relative Sector Awards.

The FEDANT National Register

The National Register gives parents, families, employers and commissioning bodies a clear way to find a professional or check an individual’s registration status.

Admission is separate from course completion. Applicants must meet the requirements for their registration category and provide the supporting evidence requested by FEDANT.

What Registration Communicates

  • Education and professional practice assessed against established standards.
  • Accountability within a clear framework of professional standards and responsibilities.
  • Commitment to the FEDANT Code of Ethics and Practice.
  • Ongoing professional responsibility, safe practice and continuing development.
  • Independent professional oversight that is separate from your education provider or membership organisation.
  • Recognition as part of a professional community committed to good practice and public confidence.

What Registration Offers You

FEDANT registration gives parents and service users confidence that your qualifications and professional practice have been independently assessed against established standards. Following successful admission, it provides your own place on the FEDANT National Register, the primary resource for parents and families to find and check professionals in the field, authorised use of the FEDANT logo and access to professional guidance, resources and support when you need it. Registrants receive regular Registrant News Briefings and urgent notifications of relevant legislative or regulatory changes.
