FEDANT Block Scheme Insurance

Professional cover for eligible FEDANT registrants

Appropriate and valid professional insurance cover is a condition of FEDANT National Registration.

Your Insurance Responsibilities

Every registrant must maintain insurance that is appropriate for their work and covers the exact professional activity and FEDANT National Register category or categories in which they practise.

FEDANT offers eligible registrants and students access to a specifically tailored, competitively priced block scheme. Use of the scheme is optional. You may arrange suitable cover with another provider, provided that it meets FEDANT’s registration requirements and covers your approved areas of practice.

Who Can Use the FEDANT Block Scheme?

The scheme is available only to eligible FEDANT registrants and eligible students attending a FEDANT accredited course. It supports those working in the antenatal and postnatal sector, including Antenatal Educators, Breastfeeding Counsellors, Infant Feeding Practitioners, Doulas and Postnatal Practitioners, together with appropriately qualified CAM Practitioners.

Your annual FEDANT National Registration must remain in good order for cover under the scheme to remain valid.

How to Arrange Cover

1

Apply for FEDANT Registration

Complete the appropriate National Registration or Student Admission application and indicate that you wish to apply for FEDANT Block Scheme Insurance.

2

Application Review

FEDANT reviews your application before issuing the unique insurance link and password. The initial review may take between 48–72 hours.

3

Complete the Insurance Application

Use the link and password that will be provided, complete the insurer’s application and pay the insurance provider directly.

4

Send Your Insurance Evidence

When your policy is issued, email a copy of the FEDANT Block Scheme insurance certificate to . Alternatively, you can wait for the insurance provider to contact FEDANT and confirm the category or categories for which you have sought insurance. FEDANT will then approve the evidence and complete your FEDANT National Registration.

5

Registration and Cover Confirmed

At this point, your FEDANT National Registration is complete and cover under the FEDANT Block Scheme will be valid.

Cover Is Not Valid Until the Required Steps Are Complete

Do not assume that insurance is active merely because an application or payment has been made. Follow the instructions supplied by FEDANT and the insurer and wait for confirmation. Until the required registration and insurance evidence steps have been completed, the policy may not provide valid cover.

Annual Renewal

Each year, you must renew both:

FEDANT National Registration

Renewal is payable to FEDANT.

FEDANT Block Scheme Insurance

Renewal is payable directly to the insurance provider.

If your FEDANT National Registration lapses, your use of the block scheme will breach the terms of provision. The insurance will become invalid and will not provide cover.

Important Information for Students

FEDANT Block Scheme student insurance is available only to eligible students attending a FEDANT accredited course and is intended for permitted student or case study activity before qualification.

When you graduate, email a clear copy of your qualification or award to . A clear, readable photograph taken on a smartphone is acceptable.

Registration Must Be Updated

FEDANT will review the award and, where the requirements are satisfied, upgrade you to the appropriate National Register category.

Student Cover Ceases

FEDANT Student Insurance ceases to provide cover when you graduate.

Full Cover Follows Approval

Once you have graduated and FEDANT has approved your award, you will be eligible to upgrade to full practitioner cover. This must be completed before qualified practice begins.

Complete Both Updates

If you upgrade to full insurance without updating your FEDANT registration status, the insurance may be cancelled.
