Applying for Professional Registration

Your route onto the FEDANT National Register

FEDANT National Registration provides professional registration for suitably qualified practitioners, including those working in the antenatal and postnatal sector, Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) practitioners and practitioners holding eligible Relative Sector Awards.

Who Can Apply?

Admission to the FEDANT National Register is open to suitably qualified professionals in the following categories:

Antenatal EducatorsBreastfeeding CounsellorsInfant Feeding PractitionersDoulasPostnatal PractitionersComplementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) PractitionersRelative Sector Practitioners

Admission is granted only for the exact category or categories for which the applicant provides satisfactory qualification and safety evidence.

Before You Begin

Prepare the following information and evidence before opening the professional registration application.

Qualification Evidence

Prepare evidence for every qualification you want listed on your National Register entry. A clear, good-quality photograph taken on a smartphone is acceptable.

Name Changes

If an award was issued in a different surname or name, provide supporting evidence of the change, such as a copy of a marriage certificate or another appropriate document.

Insurance Evidence

Provide evidence of professional insurance covering the qualification and area or areas of practice for which you are applying.

Application Details

Check that your name, contact details, practice information, website and requested register categories are accurate before submission.

Registration Fee

The applicable annual registration fee is paid through the secure payment gateway during the application. A payment receipt confirms payment only; it does not confirm admission to the FEDANT National Register.

The Registration Process

Complete the Online Application

Complete the professional registration form fully and confirm your agreement to the applicant declaration.

Pay the Registration Fee

Pay the applicable annual registration fee through the secure payment gateway.

Provide Your Evidence

Submit the qualification, name-change and insurance evidence described above for the categories requested.

Application Review

FEDANT reviews the application and supporting evidence against the admission requirements for the relevant National Register category or categories.

Complete Any Follow-Up

If information is missing or clarification is required, respond promptly so that the review can continue.

Registration Outcome

When the requirements are satisfied, FEDANT confirms completion and issues the applicable registration information.

Professional Insurance

Evidence of appropriate insurance is required for admission. The policy must cover the professional activity and exact category or categories for which registration is requested.

Using Your Own Insurance

You are not required to use the FEDANT Block Scheme. If you already hold suitable insurance, provide a clear copy of the current certificate of insurance with your application.

FEDANT Block Scheme Insurance

Eligible applicants may choose to apply for FEDANT Block Scheme Insurance. Select “I am applying for FEDANT Block Scheme Insurance” on the registration application.

Your admission application will be reviewed before the insurance application link and password are emailed to you.

Follow all instructions supplied by FEDANT and the insurance provider. Do not assume that cover is active until the required registration and insurance steps have been completed and confirmation has been received.

When Registration Is Completed

Once the required documentation has been received and verified, you will be issued with your FEDANT registration documents and your approved details will be added to the FEDANT National Register.

You will also receive login details for the secure Registrant Area. Resources available there include the appropriate FEDANT registrant logo and professional publicity materials.

Check the published entry carefully. Your category or categories show what FEDANT has approved you for on the National Register. Qualifications or CPD listed elsewhere on the entry do not alter those approved categories.

Describing Your FEDANT Registration

Registration must be described accurately. Only use the FEDANT logo and registration wording on the page or materials connected with the exact category or categories shown on your National Register entry. Your five digit National Registration Number must accompany the registrant logo in accordance with the current guidance.
