Additional registration categories may be requested during your application where you hold the appropriate qualifications. You may provide your own suitable professional insurance or, where eligible, apply for FEDANT Block Scheme Insurance after the initial registration review.

Admission to the FEDANT National Register may be granted to applicants who can provide evidence of:

Qualification Evidence

A valid qualification in the relevant therapy issued by a reputable awarding body, together with appropriate training specific to working with pregnant and postnatal clients. We will email you if we need clarification or further evidence for your application.

Professional Insurance

Suitable Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance for the registration category requested. This may be your own policy or FEDANT Block Scheme Insurance, where eligible. Your policy should cover your requested therapy activities.

Professional Commitment

An undertaking to abide by the FEDANT Code of Ethics and Practice, maintain appropriate professional boundaries, work within the limits of your qualifications and competence, and uphold the standards expected of a FEDANT Registrant.

CAM Practice in Antenatal and Postnatal Care

FEDANT registration helps parents identify CAM Practitioners whose qualifications, relevant antenatal and postnatal training, professional insurance and supporting evidence have been reviewed. CAM practice should complement, not replace, appropriate maternity or medical care. Registrants must work within their qualifications and competence, explain the limits of their services and refer clients to an appropriate healthcare professional when necessary.

What Professional Registration Provides

FEDANT registration gives parents and service users confidence that your qualifications and professional practice have been independently assessed against established standards.

Professional Recognition

  • Professional credibility through validation by the UK registering body dedicated to those working in the antenatal and postnatal sector, including practitioners working in complementary and alternative medicine.
  • A Certificate of Registration and annual Registration Card.
  • Authorised use of the FEDANT logo and lettering on publicity materials, subject to FEDANT’s current logo use requirements.
  • Approved posters, leaflets, guidance materials, bi-weekly Registrant Briefings and regulatory updates, contribution surveys where your voice gets heard at the highest levels.

Public Register Listing

  • A reputable route through which clients seeking a suitably qualified CAM Practitioner can find a registered professional.
  • A listing on the publicly searchable FEDANT National Register.
  • Your email address and website may be linked from your National Register entry.
  • Families and others can use your five-digit National Registration Number and surname to confirm your current entry.
  • Your Register Entry Category shows the professional role or roles for which FEDANT registration has been approved; your approved qualifications are also published.

Insurance and Professional Support

  • Access to Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance at preferential rates for eligible FEDANT registrants.
  • Representation to Government and other healthcare regulatory bodies.
  • Support through FEDANT’s national public awareness activity.
  • Regular Registrant News Briefings and urgent notifications of relevant legislative or regulatory changes.

Continuing Professional Development

  • Regular information about approved CPD training providers and events.
  • Online access to a library of information, articles and research materials without download limits.
  • Guidance to help Registrants recognise, record and reflect on the professional development activities they may already be completing.
  • Support to identify learning priorities and keep professional knowledge and skills up to date.

Professional Insurance

Appropriate professional insurance is required for admission to the FEDANT National Register. You may use suitable insurance from another provider or, where eligible, choose to apply for FEDANT Block Scheme Insurance.

Using Your Own Insurance

Provide evidence of a current policy covering you with Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance for the exact category or categories for which registration is requested.

FEDANT Block Scheme Insurance

Eligible applicants may apply for access to the reduced rate FEDANT Block Scheme. Insurance application details are supplied after the initial registration review.

Annual Registration and Insurance Renewals

Check your registration and insurance renewal dates and arrange each renewal separately before it expires. If you need help with your FEDANT registration renewal, contact Administration. For insurance renewal or cover questions, contact your insurance provider.

Registration and insurance are renewed separately each year. FEDANT National Registration is renewed through FEDANT, while FEDANT Block Scheme Insurance is renewed directly with the insurance provider.

Important: If your FEDANT National Registration lapses, your FEDANT Block Scheme Insurance will be in breach of the terms of provision. It will become invalid and will not provide cover. Insurance information

Prepare Your Evidence

Have details of your CAM therapy qualification and professional insurance ready (if not choosing the FEDANT Block Scheme Insurance). Prepare evidence for any additional category you want FEDANT to consider.

Read the Professional Requirements

Make sure you understand the FEDANT Code of Ethics and Practice and the scope of the register category for which you are applying.

Complete the Application

Enter your information accurately, confirm your agreement to the applicant declaration and respond promptly if FEDANT requests clarification or further evidence.

£62.80

Payable to FEDANT.

Application Outcome

Confirmation of your registration status will be sent to the email address entered on your application. If it does not arrive, check your spam and junk folders before contacting FEDANT.
